? Automatic sensing device for contact strip of pantograph (Fig. 2-7)
Reason for development
This device uses a non-contact ultrasonic sensor to automatically detect abrasion or damage in the pantograph's contact strip of a train in operation. This data is put into a deterioration prediction system to accurately indicate when the contact strip must be replaced, for more efficient maintenance.
Outline of device
* It can automatically measure contact strip abrasions or body deformations while the train is in operation.
* It can provide an accurate profile of the contact strip by multi-point measurements.
* It can predict the time of deterioration from the abrasion data and the rail car number, thus facilitating planned management of expendable parts.
* It can use the measured data to develop office automation for inspection.
